30 Browser Tabs Open and Your Computer Crashes. Now What? Read It Later!

I know I can’t be the only one who has 30 tabs open at almost all times, right? Err… if I am, just pretend I’m not. I have severe blog ADD and I bounce from topic to topic. In one tab, I will be writing about my dog on one blog, and then in another tab I will be writing about how to make money with Squidoo on another blog. In yet another tab I will be making money on SuperPoints, and playing on Twitter in another.

This slows my computer down.

This slows me down. Before I can start a new task, I feel like I need to wade through all the tabs I have open. Sometimes I have it open because I need to read it, sometimes I have it open because I need to write it. Whatever the case may be, sometimes I just need to stop and let my computer (and brain) rest a little bit, and go back to it later.

I started copying links into notepad, but then I forget what I saved the file as, and I get frustrated when I’m trying to find it.

Today I discovered Read It Later. This thing had to be developed by someone like me! I’m telling ya, it’s a life saver. It’s free, and easy to use. Download the Read it Later extension for your browser, and then there will be a little tag up in the address window. When you have 10 tabs open, just go to each one, click the little flag, and then title it.

You can even add tags!

I probably shouldn’t be that excited about being able to add tags, but I am! I was storing everything on Pinterest but I’m really afraid (with all the legal drama they have going on) that they may disappear one day. So Read It Later is going to save my life, and all of my websites and reading material!

So it’s kind of like bookmarks, but way better – and if something happens to your computer you will still have your list! I remember one time when my computer crashed, I lost over 400 bookmarks. I freaked out! That can never happen again while using Read It Later!

By the way, I know this post kinda sounds like an infomercial. It’s not. I don’t earn any money for getting you to sign up (darnit!), I just discovered Read It Later and instantly fell in love so I wanted to share. :)

  2. Wow! I totally need this. I usually have 20-30 tabs open at a time! I have tons of stuff bookmarked too, but that takes time. I’m definitely going to give this a try. My family will be glad if it works. Whenever they try to get on my computer they always complain about how many tabs I have open!

That would be amazing. I too am guilty of having things like superpoints and swagbucks open at all times… and maybe a few facebook games that like to crash the browser (Shh!)

  7. Cool find. I’m the same way, having a ton of tabs open doing different things and then boom, have to close out the browser cause it’s not responding anymore. I need to use this myself.

  8. This is so awesome. I too usually have many tabs open because I’ll be working on one thing then get sidetracked to something else, then get sidetracked to something else, etc…. This will be very helpful!

  13. I use something very similar. It’s a Firefox addon and I LOVE it! I used to have way too many tabs open, all the time. To be honest I’m still guilty of it but thanks to my new friend I don’t have them open for long. I will save them for later and then close them. :-D

  14. Cool! I’m looking into this but looks like it’s called Pocket now.
