How to Write an Ebook

This title is a bit misleading, because I’m not going to walk you through the actual process of writing an ebook, but I’m going to show you how I wrote mine. It’s similar to how to create media kits.

To get started, you need to download a free program called Open Office (or you can use Microsoft Word and a free PDF Converter).

It’s so simple to do this, that it’s kind of silly to make a whole post on it, but it’s kind of one of those things that when you see it you’ll be like “Ohhhh!” :)

So download Open Office, and open it. Use the first page as your cover or title page, then add the table of contents, and the actual content of the book. Don’t forget to include a disclaimer/disclosure, and copyright at the end of the book. You can change the font, color, and insert images just like in Microsoft Word.

After you’ve finished your book, SAVE IT FIRST. You CANNOT edit these PDF files. Click FILE, then SAVE AS, and name your book. I usually use “firstcopyBOOKNAME”. Then click FILE and EXPORT AS PDF. A box will pop up and ask if you want it password protected, if you want people to be able to edit it, etc. I don’t change any of the settings, I just click okay. Then you can send your PDF file out.

If you sign up for e-junkie you can sell your ebooks for as little as $5 a month. Don’t have $5 to spare? Become an affiliate for Don’t Clog the Blog and make $1.50 per sale. Sales start 2-14-12.
